From what I’ve seen, virtual field trips are similar to the virtual tours that some institutes and museums offer, but there seems to be a more interactive element to them. In the virtual field trips I’ve found, they are made with lessons and teachable subjects in mind. I’ve found virtual field trips that have built in lesson plans, connections to the BC curriculum, and ways that the First Peoples Principles of Learning are incorporated into them. I think that they can be very useful when teachers are unable to visit specific places with their students, and I can imagine myself using some in the future.
